To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel :
We started off the New Year with presenting the Distinguished Legal Service Award to Rosemary Nelson, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel-Operations, Colgate-Palmolive Company. Rosemary has served on the New York Chapter Board for many years and has been a member of the Board of Directors of National ACC as well.
We believe that Rosemary Nelson has the professional expertise and personal characteristics to make her the epitome of an excellent in-house counsel. Rosemary began her career as a schoolteacher and later joined the National Association of Broadcasters Code Authority as an editor reviewing and approving advertising directed to children for air. She was hired by the major advertising firm Young & Rubicam as Administrator for Commercial Clearance and became a Legal Assistant in their legal department while attending Rutgers Law School's evening division. After graduation she rose to become Y&R's Senior Vice-President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. She left to become Sr. Vice President, Director Legal and Business Affairs at Saatchi & Saatchi North American, Inc. She then joined Colgate in its legal department.
Our celebration was held on Monday, January 14 in the Boardroom of Christies. It was a lovely event. Rosemary's teen-aged daughter Nicole joined us in toasting her mother's success.
Many of you attended our first annual Casino night. It was held in November and was a wonderful networking time. We hope to continue this successful event this year as well.
Two of our Board members have resigned. We want to thank Deborah Prutzman and Robin Dunlop for all the hard work they have provided on behalf of the New York Chapter.
We look forward to sharing with you the many events that we have planned in the New Year. Watch this space for further announcements of our events as well as watching the notices that we send on behalf of our many CLE courses that are held during the year.
