While everyone is enjoying the fireworks, time at the shore, or hopefully, some vacation time this month, much activity is going on behind the scenes at the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association to get ready for the fall whenNJCCA schedules two of its biggest events: the Full Day Conference and the Annual Dinner. Full Day Conference: This year's Full Day Conference, to be held September 27 at the Hanover Marriott Hotel in Whippany, promises to be the best ever thanks to our amazing planning committee. Under the leadership of Cindy Long, General Counsel of Valley National Bank, the committee prepared a fantastic agenda covering substantive legal topics, career advancement, and ethics. Our hearty thanks to Cindy and the others, who include: David Boyko of Schering-Plough, Barbara Sellinger of Wyndham Worldwide, Barry Pulver of The Hartford, Peter Tu of Vitae Pharmaceutical, Chris Santomassimo of Agfa, Rob Levin of Sarnoff, Richard Mannella of Goen Technologies, Ronald Prague of Sychronoss, Joseph Aronds of Hartz Mountain, Evaleon Hill, most recently of t-Mobile, Sylvia Ayler of Merck, Valerie Camara of Merck, Ilene Karpf of American Standard and Deborah Keller of KPMG. Last year, over 150 people attended the conference, and this year we expect more.
Annual Dinner: You also will not want to miss this year's annual dinner meeting on November 14 at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, NJ. The venue is beautiful! Author, legal correspondent and Harvard Law School Professor Arthur Miller will be the keynote speaker. Well-known for his legal treatises, he was the legal editor for ABC's Good Morning America and a popular speaker on PBS, Court TV and other programs. Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of our country's most notable constitutional scholars. I am delighted that we are again hosting an optional one-and-a-half hour wine tasting just prior to the dinner. As in past years, the wines promise to be exceptional. Be sure to sign up early; space is limited.
The annual dinner also features installation of NJCCA's officers and board members. Although this portion of the evening's program is short, it allows us to recognize the service and dedication of the volunteer leaders whose terms are expiring and welcome those nominated to start their leadership roles in NJCCA. The Nominating Committee is currently developing a list of candidates for the open leadership positions.
