To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel :
Our Chapter's activities have blossomed over the past few years and, correspondingly, our need for engaged and committed chapter leaders has grown as well. A brief sampling of the ways in-house counsel can become involved with our Georgia Chapter include:
Nominating Committee - a committee is now forming under the leadership of Ted Kingsley, Immediate Past President, to search for members to fill our 2007 officer and director positions. Please contact Ted (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you'd like to assist or have suggestions for these critical roles.
Officers and Directors - the chapter's Board, comprised of all officers and directors, supports our mission and manages the exciting and complex activities of our organization. If you are interested in serving as an officer or director, please contact Ted.
Stewardship Committee - in 2007 a key element of our chapter's mission is to promote diversity in the legal profession. The recently-formed Stewardship Committee, headed by Virginia Wadsworth (email@example.com) needs your help in directing our chapter's resources towards worthwhile causes that will truly make a difference. Please contact Virginia for more information.
National Day of Service - our Chapter rolled up our collective sleeves to work at Atlanta's Foster Care Support Foundation on September 30. We packed boxes of badly needed supplies for area foster kids as part of a national service day as ACC chapters across the country provide community service in their own home towns. Betsy Griswold (firstname.lastname@example.org) headed this effort.
Host Companies - thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, our chapter will once again award summer internships to one or more minority law students. Host companies willing to share projects, office space and insights into the world of in-house practice are needed for the summer of 2007. Contact Virginia Wadsworth (email@example.com) if you can help in this extremely worthwhile and rewarding chapter outreach program.
Committees - you asked, and your Board answered! Special interest committees, including the Young Lawyers Council (stephen.kaplan@PurposeCenter.com) and Technology and eCommerce Committee (firstname.lastname@example.org) are off and running with outstanding programs. Lori Shapiro (email@example.com) is seeking participants for our 2007 Programs Committee, an advisory group to support the officers responsible for regular monthly and special event programs during 2007. Consider joining an ACC Georgia committee today!
The continued success of our chapter depends on the energy, commitment and engagement of our members. I encourage all in-house counsel in Georgia to become more involved with our ACC Georgia colleagues!
