To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel :
As the largest regional in-house counsel bar association in the U.S. and the largest chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, WMACCA is proud of its role in providing premier continuing legal education and networking opportunities. With 1,300 members from more than 500 corporations and private sector organizations, we offer a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of the in-house bar. Through our eight substantive law committees, breakfasts, teas, and lunches, we offer CLE that aims to provide in-house counsel with the tools needed to advise clients in the post-Sarbanes-Oxley world.
Among our 60 CLE events in 2006, two programs in April deserve special recognition.
On April 6, WMACCA will host an all-star panel of leading in-house lawyers from the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), and a top attorney-agent. 'Playing Ball in the Big Leagues' will be an entertaining and insightful behind-the-scenes look at how in-house lawyers rumble in the major sports leagues: what their legal practice is like; what negotiating tactics they use; and what it's really like dealing with the larger-than-life personalities in professional sports. It will be a program that will appeal to the fan in all of us.
On April 25, WMACCA's April Signature Luncheon features former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani as our keynote speaker on the topic of 'How Prosecutors and Regulators Are Influencing Corporate Behavior.' Following Mr. Giuliani's remarks, WMACCA will host a panel discussion among in-house counsel and several former prosecutors.
