To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:
2006 promises to be an exciting year. The enthusiasm and energy of our board and other volunteer leaders are contagious. At our recent planning session, we had the pleasant surprise of needing more chairs because attendance exceeded our expectations.
Our plans include a wealth of CLE seminars, career development programs and networking events. These in-person forums are specifically tailored to the needs of in-house counsel. They give in-house counsel the opportunity to develop a wide network of colleagues with whom they can share best practices, practical tools and real world solutions.
I invite in-house counsel to bookmark NJCCA's calendar of upcoming events at http://www.acca.com/chapters/all_event.php?chapter=njcca. We kick off the year with a program focused on dispute management sponsored by American Arbitration Association. The program features a webcast format that enables in-house counsel to participate in person or at their desk.
January events also include a labor and employment roundtable sponsored by Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP and a full-day Corporate Counsel Institute co-hosted by NJCCA and NJICLE.
In February, NJCCA's 21st Century Law Committee is hosting a program sponsored by LexisNexis and focused on helping in-house counsel to use current and emerging technology to maximize efficiencies. Key topics to be addressed in the session include legal spend management, e-discovery, matter management and document management technologies. Also in February, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP will be sponsoring a full-day program on mergers and acquisitions.
It's not too early to mark your calendars to join NJCCA's many friends and supporters on May 19 at the Manor in West Orange, NJ. We will be celebrating NJCCA's 20 years as a chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel by honoring a host of NJCCA members, past presidents and others. Bring your in-house colleagues along for a fun-filled night.
