In November, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of WMACCA - now the largest ACC chapter - byhonoring leaders in our area's in-house legal community. Please join me in congratulating:
Outstanding Chief Legal Officer: Curtis L. Schehr, Anteon International Corporation
Outstanding In-House Counsel: Jonathan L. Spear, MCI
Outstanding Law Department: Nextel Communications, Inc. (now Sprint Nextel Corporation)
Outstanding Community Service Award: Choice Hotels International and Sodexho, Inc.
We knew that we could not recognize all the terrific people and departments within our remarkable in-house legal community. By highlighting the accomplishments of a few, we provide examples of significant and noteworthy achievements, outstanding character, ethics, integrity, and dedication to public service.
The awards reception featured a retrospective video on the history of WMACCA, along with presentation of a special WMACCA Service Award to Frank H. Menaker, retiring senior vice president and general counsel of Lockheed Martin Corporation and former WMACCA president.
A portion of the proceeds from the awards reception will go to a non-profit foundation that supports the WMACCA Corporate Scholars Program. This diversity pipeline program provides summer internships in in-house legal departments for students from local schools.
