Letter From The President Of The Michigan Chapter Of The Association Of Corporate Counsel America

2005-03-01 01:00

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel :

The Michigan Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel engaged in a planning session last summer to establish some measurable goals for 2005. Our new board has used this business plan to hit the ground running by planning two educational seminars for February and March, and work has already begun on a multi-bar Spring Social and an expansion of the Chapter's scholarship program to three additional law schools.

Last year we broke new ground by hosting a Cinco de Mayo social where ACC members could mix and mingle with members of a number of bar associations that represent a diverse group of lawyers in Michigan, including the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan, the Straker Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of Michigan. This year we hope to expand the participation of local bar associations to give a greater number of lawyers the opportunity to meet the in-house lawyers that use outside counsel services. The relaxed atmosphere of a social setting gives us a new venue in which to meet representatives of firms we would not ordinarily have access to.

Sincerely,
