To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:
NJCCA's plans for 2005 are well underway, and I am pleased to be able to tell you about exciting upcoming programs and networking opportunities. We are sponsoring or co-sponsoring four major CLE days and many other opportunities for CLE and networking.
The first full-day CLE event of 2005 took place on January 27. Primary co-sponsors Sills Cummis Epstein & Gross P.C. and Deloitte & Touche led a phenomenal series of panels for Corporate Governance and Compliance Today and Tomorrow: What Corporate Law Departments Need to Know . Speakers from all walks of the enforcement, regulatory and corporate communities presented a full day of programs to over 200 attendees. Attendees have told us this was one of the best programs they ever attended, so our thanks to the many presenters and the generous support of all the program sponsors.
On May 12, NJCCA will present a full day of CLE in a new format for us, a "rapid fire" program. Designed for the busy in-house practitioner, you will be treated to a variety of short-form updates on a broad range of topics. This format has been very popular with other organizations, and we hope you will find this a useful program. That evening we will host our Spring Cocktail Reception, a great opportunity to unwind and meet fellow in-house attorneys and mingle with the days' sponsors and speakers.
Also, hold September 22 for our Third Annual Conference, a full-day seminar series with plenty of CLE credits and programs again designed for your needs as in-house counsel.
NJCCA has worked with other organizations to co-sponsor CLE or other events that we believe add to your skills as in-house counsel. We are again partnering with the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE) and the New Jersey State Bar Association's Business Law Section to co-sponsor the 2005 Corporate Counsel Institute . The program is designed to address issues of concern for corporate counsel including proposed topics such as ERISA liability, strategic alliances, insurance issues and litigation. By partnering with NJICLE, we obtain a special reduced rate for NJCCA members. I and other NJCCA members will be on the panel. Please review the flyer in this month's mailing or visit www.njicle.com for further information
All of these exciting CLE opportunities are in addition to dozens of morning CLE seminars, gatherings such as our Annual Dinner and special receptions, the ACC Docket and the on-line resources of NJCCA and ACC. Please check the mailings, e-mails and ACC website at ww.acca.com for the latest news.
I look forward to seeing you at these events and invite your comments. Your input is vital to helping us help you be the best in-house lawyers you can be.
