Letter From The President Of The New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association

2004-07-01 01:00

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

A core mission of ACC and NJCCA is to add value to all stages of a corporate counsel's career and to promote the understanding of the role of the in-house counsel. A part of that effort is to share the positive message about in-house practice at all levels of the career ladder. To that end, we are hosting a social event and informational panel discussion for corporate law department summer interns on Wednesday, July 14. In an informal setting with light snacks, a panel of generalists and specialists from large and small law departments will talk about their work and career paths. If your company has a summer intern or summer associate working in your law department who would like to participate in our upcoming social event, please contact Barbara Walder at (973) 927-5622 or NJCCA41@aol.com.

For current in-house counsel, be sure to mark your calendars for our annual conference on Thursday, September 23. The full day program's agenda includes a wide array of CLE programs on such topics as how to avoid violating antitrust laws when settling intellectual property litigation, practical tips for handling internal investigations and managing litigation, and updates on corporate compliance and commercial law.

Simultaneous tracks also feature a variety of professional programs featuring benchmarking and best practices, management skills, putting technology to good use and financial planning. Lunch (with a keynote speaker to be announced!) and a closing reception add to the package by providing an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow in-house counsel. Last year's program was attended by over 150 people, so be sure to register early.

Whether you are new to in-house practice, looking to enhance your skills and experiences in your current position, planning a career move or have ideas to help corporate counsel who are in transition, NJCCA's other leaders and I would be delighted to hear from you and see you at our upcoming events.
