In setting priorities as how best to serve our in-house colleagues in 2004, our chapter leadership began with a focus on identifying resources to help increase diversity in our profession.In collaboration with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, we hosted a Diversity Forum to showcase diversity best practices from two of Florida's leading corporate law departments and a leading law firm.
The forum gave participants access to valuable diversity resources, opportunities to benchmark their diversity policies and practices, network with leaders in the South Florida legal community and learn more about how to become a diversity leader in Florida.
Sharing their experiences in overcoming the obstacles to diversity were the MCCA Employer of Choice and Sager Award Honorees: Horace Dawson, Senior Associate General Counsel, Darden Restaurants; Barry Blum, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Burger King Corporation, and Peter Kramer, Partner, Steel Hector & Davis, LLP. Veta Richardson, Executive Director of MCCA, moderated their discussion.
