Letter From President Of The Mid-America Chapter Of The Association Of Corporate Counsel

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

It is my privilege to serve as the current president of the Association of Corporate Counsel Mid-America Chapter. Based in Kansas City, the Mid-America Chapter is proud to serve over 350 in-house attorneys in eastern Kansas, western Missouri, and the greater Omaha, Nebraska metropolitan area. Through the participation of our members, volunteer board members, sponsors, and the national Association of Corporate Counsel, the Mid-America Chapter is able to provide local in-house counsel with the most relevant in-house information, education and networking opportunities.

We primarily fulfill this purpose through monthly chapter programs in both the Kansas City and Omaha metro areas. These programs are usually held over the lunch hour and provide Mid-America Chapter members with interesting information about current legal topics. Some recent programs include: End Bullying, Stop Harassment and Prevent Workplace Violence; Using Diversity Programs to Reduce Legal and Business Risks; International Trade Compliance: Steering Clear of the Penalty Box; and Perspectives of a Plaintiff's Lawyer: Things Employers Do to Make My Job Easier. By attending these meetings, our members gain valuable legal knowledge, as well as essential CLE credits. We also look forward to a planning social/networking event later this year.

The Mid-America Chapter is able to provide so many of these benefits due to the generous support of our sponsors. Our 2014 Premier sponsors are Armstrong Teasdale, Lathrop & Gage LLP, and Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak& Stewart, P.C. Our 2014 Title Sponsors are Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP and Stinson Leonard Street, and our 2014 Sustaining Sponsors are Daley & Fey LLP, Dentons, Foulston Siefkin LLP, Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, Jordan Lawrence, and Littler Mendelson P.C.

As we move forward, we commit to exceeding the expectations of the Mid-America Chapter’s in-house counsel by providing the value they have come to expect. I look forward to seeing local readers at one of our many events this year. I also encourage our current and prospective members to visit the chapter webpage at http://www.acc.com/chapters/midam/. Finally, we are always looking for new topics of interest to our members, as well as current members interested in becoming more involved with our chapter.  Please feel free to reach out to myself or one of the other board members if you have an interest.
