To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

The Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel is proud to be celebrating our 10th Anniversary. The Chapter has over 420 corporate counsel members, and we continue to grow with each passing year. This year, the Chapter will offer over 50 events for our members, including CLEs, Affinity Group events and many social and networking events. The Chapter is pleased to be partnering with 15 law firm sponsors at the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsorship levels.

This year, the Chapter is off to a great start. Our Chapter recently hosted a very successful Annual Gala at the Mint Museum with over 200 in attendance. Since it is our 10th Anniversary, many of our past Chapter presidents attended, and we were honored to welcome our ACC National President, Ms. Veta Richardson. Our Chapter also continued its tradition of participating in the 3rd Annual Corporate Counsel Awards with the Charlotte Business Journal, which recognized outstanding corporate counsel in various categories. This annual awards ceremony publically honors the accomplishments of corporate attorneys who deserve recognition for their professional accomplishments. This was the first year for offering a new award, the Lifetime Achievement Award. The recipient of this award was Luther Moore, long-time Belk Stores, Inc. corporate attorney and one of the founding members of our Chapter.

Our Chapter has the great fortune to benefit from outstanding law firm sponsors from our Charlotte area who provide top-notch CLE programs, including offering many panels with corporate and outside counsel in addition to career development, diversity and pro bono events. The Chapter also benefits from a strong relationship with several non-law firm partners. The Chapter Committees are an integral key to our success as they work to coordinate programming, contact new members and assist members in-transition, providing effective communication to our Chapter and advocating for our Chapter.

The Chapter also has four Affinity Groups, which provide tailored events to our members in the areas of finance, manufacturing, energy, and to our women members. The Chapter also continues to participate in community service events, which include a Wills Project with Habitat for Humanity, our 3rd Annual Fundraiser for Classroom Central and our 4th Annual Casino Night fundraiser benefiting worthy charities in our area and our charitable endowment. The Chapter also continues to participate in events benefiting non-profits that provide legal services to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County area.

We are always striving to serve our members with new events, and this year we will offer a half-day Legal Risk and Project Management Symposium. In addition, we will offer additional satellite CLEs in our surrounding county and continue to offer CLEs in Winston-Salem and in Asheville to serve our members in those areas.

Throughout its ten-year history, the Chapter has benefited from the hard work and dedication of many current and former members. One of the unique aspects of our Chapter is that many of us have, through Chapter events, not only established great professional relationships, but we have also established long-lasting friendships.

I consider myself fortunate to be leading the Chapter this year and I am grateful to our outstanding team of officers, board members, executive director, committee leaders, sponsors and all of our members who continue to work to make our Chapter strong and successful.

Sincerely,

Christopher Tucci
