Letter From The President Of The New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

Summer is right around the corner, which means that it’s time for the NJCCA’s Sixth Annual Golf Outing. This year, the Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday, July 15 and, for the first time ever, will be held at the beautiful Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, New Jersey. The Golf Outing is open to anyone who has a desire to play golf for the day – from beginners to those with more experience. Following the golf, a networking reception will be held in the clubhouse. The Golf Outing is always a lot of fun, so please do not hesitate to register. You can register as a foursome or, if you prefer, we will match you up with other golfers for the day. To register for the outing, please email NJCCA’s Executive Director, Giuliano Chicco, at njcca@acc.com.

Diversity and pro bono are hallmarks of the legal profession. NJCCA is honoring those members and sponsors that have excelled in their efforts to promote diversity and provide pro bono legal services. If your company has gone above and beyond the norm to foster and promote diversity in hiring and retention, or has made a commitment to providing or supporting pro bono legal initiatives, we want to hear about it. Please email me at joseph.aronds@acc-njcca.org with a description of your company's diversity and/or pro bono efforts of which you are particularly proud. Submissions must be received by no later than midnight on Friday, August 30, 2013. An impartial panel of NJCCA judges will select the winning entries. The winners will receive mention in our newsletter and an awards presentation will be held during the NJCCA's annual all-day CLE conference on Friday, September 20, 2013. Companies submitting entries must have at least one in-house counsel who is a member of the NJCCA or must be a current NJCCA sponsor.

A unique feature of the NJCCA is the Overruled! cartoon that I create for each edition of our newsletter. NJCCA remains the only ACC-affiliated chapter to have its own in-house cartoonist. For the second year in a row, an Overruled! that I specially created for the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (www.vljnj.org) will be featured on a t-shirt as part of the Hobby’s for Justice fundraiser at Hobby’s Delicatessen, located at 32 Branford Place, Newark, NJ, on Tuesday, June 11. Please come to Hobby’s to enjoy a specialty sandwich created for the fundraiser or partake of one of their many menu items, including overstuffed deli sandwiches and a wide variety of pickles and salads. A lunch at Hobby’s is one you will never forget, and you will be supporting a worthwhile organization.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything you wish to discuss with the NJCCA. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Joe Aronds
