On November 7, 2012, the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA) will hold its Annual Dinner at the Dolce Hotel and Resorts in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. As has been our custom for the previous several years, we will begin the event with two hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programming in the afternoon, one hour of which will provide those always-need but hard-to-get ethics credits for both New Jersey and New York (in which states the NJCCA is an accredited CLE provider); Pennsylvania credits will be available upon request. At the conclusion of the CLE sessions, we will have a cocktail reception followed by a sit-down dinner. We will continue our tradition of charitable outreach by honoring and making a contribution to the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, an organization that provides pro bono legal services for the New Jersey arts community. We will vote in our new board members. We will also announce the winner of our Legal Fiction Writing Competition! After a video retrospective of the highlights of our past year, we will be entertained by the soulful sounds of Dr. K’s Motown Revue – so be prepared to dance! This year’s annual dinner will mark the official end of my first year as president of the NJCCA and the halfway point of my presidency. This has been, without a doubt, a very dynamic, engaging and successful year. As a result of our many efforts and successes, we were awarded a Chapter Achievement Award by the national Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and were recognized at the ACC’s annual convention in Orlando earlier this month. Our six “premier” annual events were all highly successful. I will always particularly recall with fondness the Spring CLE and Cocktail Reception held in May 2012 at the Pleasantdale Chateau, where we gathered for education, networking and camaraderie on a beautiful spring evening. We also set new attendance records for our all-day CLE conference in September. We continued our tradition of providing our members with a monthly e-newsletter, each issue featuring a substantive legal article. We are the only ACC affiliate chapter to provide this member benefit. We recently unveiled a new newsletter feature entitled “Great Lawyers From New Jersey History,” which highlights those attorneys who, during their lives and careers, made a lasting impact on New Jersey law.

We are working on a number of exciting new initiatives for the coming year – details to follow shortly! We recently ran a membership survey, and we are planning programs and events based on the results thereof.
