On behalf of the Texas chapters of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), I am pleased to announce the upcoming statewide In-house Counsel Compensation Survey. While the ACC Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) chapter has conducted a compensation survey for several years, this year marks the first time all four Texas ACC chapters will promote the survey to their members and other in-house counsel in their communities, allowing the survey to reflect compensation trends in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio/South-Central Texas. We are also proud to have sponsors KPMG and Prescott Legal assist with the survey, in both compiling and presenting the results to our members.
In prior years, more than 300 in-house lawyers from the DFW area participated in the survey. Since that time the in-house community across the state has grown significantly. In fact, in January, the DFW chapter topped 600 members! With more attorneys participating in the survey, the results will become even more useful as a guide to trends in in-house counsel compensation across the state. This year's survey questionnaire was developed to be brief and includes new questions concerning merit pay increases, separation benefits, and other items implicated by the current economic conditions facing corporations throughout the country. Mark Prescott of Prescott Legal Search said, "The release of this comprehensive survey is timely. We are seeing positive signs that corporate clients are adding attorneys, though our temporary and temporary-to-permanent business remains the most robust."
The survey is also open to all in-house counsel and is not limited to ACC members. The time needed to complete the survey is approximately 15 minutes. The site will remain open until the end of June. There is no cost to participate in the survey, and all participants will receive the results of the survey at no charge. Each participant will receive a copy of KPMG's report and be notified of upcoming events hosted by each of the ACC chapters where representatives of KPMG and Prescott Legal will be present to discuss the results and trends in in-house compensation.
