To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

I wish to announce the election of new board members at the annual meeting, held on April 14 at the University Club in New York City, for a term starting on October 1, 2009 and concluding on May 31, 2012.

We want to welcome these new members and thank Albert Driver, Evelyn Finkelstein, Michael Kraft, and Elaine Reiss, whose terms expire on September 30, 2009, for their years of loyal service to the chapter. My term will also expire then.

In addition, Jeffrey Green, Daniel Karson, Maryrose Maness and Rosemary Nelson will serve until September 30, 2010, and Josephine Belli-Marinos, David Graff, Vivian A. Maese, David Skablow and James A. Woehlke will serve until September 30, 2011.

I am delighted to report that the chapter held a very successful compliance seminar on April 14 at the University Club. I want to thank Robert Roach and Rebecca Holland, New York University compliance officers for their essential assistance in planning this event.

This well-attended program dealt with issues as varied as compliance basics, responding to government inquiries, global compliance issues, and record retention. Our thanks to our patrons and sponsors who graciously participated in this event, namely: Ron Minkoff, Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, P.C.; F. Steve Kimmelman, Arent Fox, LLP; Roscoe Howard, Troutman Sanders, LLP; Anjali Chaurvedi, Nixon Peabody, LLP; Jonathan Edward Davis, Kroll Associates, Inc.; Jim Keneally, Kelley Drye & Warren, LLP; Dana Lesemann, Stroz Friedberg, LLC; Steve Schoenfeld, Dorsey & Whitney, LLP; Mike Barba, BDO Consulting; and Jennifer Finnegan, Herrick Feinstein LLP. We are indebted to them for their support and their interest and participation in our seminar

Our compliance event luncheon keynote address was delivered by Leonard Gordon, FTC Northeast regional director, who spoke about identity theft, privacy and corporate responsibility during this revitalized period of regulation of personal data.

We held a networking program on April 21 with no CLE, but we attempt to provide new programs of value.

Please look for announcements of our CLE and social programs. I look forward to meeting you.

Very truly yours,

Lisa Whitney
