While the federal government has not yet issued guidance regarding tax and benefit issues, several court cases have emerged dealing with decisions on benefits and rights related to same-sex marriage. This presentation will discuss the potential issues your clients will face in light of these court opinions and pending federal guidance.
Also, the Office of Personnel Management has already issued guidance as to employee benefits provided by the federal government. We will examine what that guidance means for federal employees, and whether it is a sign of things to come for private employers. Finally, we will look at the current issues employers are facing with respect to a wide range of employee benefits with respect to marriage equality.
