Topics include the need for the DRECP, for conservation, for renewable energy development, and for other uses and values of the desert. Program also includes  the role of science, California energy objectives, economic outcomes, and development realities in informing its recommendations and conclusions; the current status of the DRECP study and the issues that are most likely to be contentious during public review of the draft plan; and  how the adoption of the DRECP can streamline project permitting, and increase the certainty that specific projects in the study area will be able to satisfy environmental standard.
