This joint conference of the DC courts and the DC Bar is an opportunity for judges, practitioners and other members of the legal profession to gather and discuss topics of particular interest to the community. The full day of programming includes a plenary panel and a variety of CLE offerings. A keynote luncheon will feature Stephen B. Bright, president and senior counsel for the Southern Center for Human Rights and the Harvey Karp visiting lecturer in law at Yale Law School. Mr. Bright will discuss Redeeming Gideon: Access to Counsel 50 Years Later.
Other sessions include Implementing a Civil Right to Counsel: What Would it Look Like; Staying on the Right Side of the Line – How to Avoid Bar Complaints; Ethics by the Numbers - Conflicts by the Score; and Poverty Law in the Court of Appeals.
The conference will end with a closing reception honoring members of the judiciary.
