The American Law Institute’s U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration project, part of the Restatement of the Law Series, is in the process of restating the American law of international commercial arbitration.

This chapter covers post-award relief, including the topics of vacatur, confirmation, recognition and enforcement, which has been approved by ALI as a restatement of law.

Specific matters to be covered are the following: What is an international commercial arbitral award?; How is the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Awards properly interpreted?; and What is the place of state arbitration laws in actions for post-award relief in the U.S.?

The chair and chief panelist of this video webcast will be George Bermann, professor of law and director of the Center for International Commercial and Investment Arbitration at Columbia Law School. Professor Bermann is the institute’s reporter for the U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration Restatement.
