Former Nixon White House counsel John W. Dean will discuss the Watergate political scandal 40 years later. The break in and the subsequent attempts to cover up the crime were orchestrated by President Nixon’s White House staff members and those who supported him for reelection in 1972. The fallout from this scandal led to the resignation of President Nixon and the convictions of dozens of top Nixon administration officials, most of whom were lawyers, including Mr. Dean. Mr. Dean will use his experiences as the White House counsel during the scandal to explore an attorney’s obligations under today’s rules of professional conduct when he uncovers wrongdoing in an organization.
