Employment is already the most regulated relationship for both employers and employees. EEO, NLRA, LMRA, ADA, FEP, FLSA, WARN, OSHA, FCRA and ERISA are just a few acronyms for potential employer liability, employee lawsuits and government intervention. The current administration is continually expanding the scope of employment-related regulations, and this course will provide practitioners on the firing line a comprehensive overview of these myriad laws and regulations with pointers to avoid regulatory and legal pitfalls. Skilled practitioners will discuss ways to deal effectively with administrative agencies and labor unions and with ethical issues that may arise in the practice of employment and labor law. Topics will assist participants in recognizing the employer’s legal exposure; planning positive employment practices; drafting employment contracts and manuals; and advising clients on practical procedures to avoid or minimize significant risks in employment relations.
