Save the date, Tuesday, April 24, for a New York State Bar Association seminar titled Smooth Moves 2012: Views from the Corner Office: Diverse General Counsels Discuss How to Get There, and How to Win Their Business.

The event will be held at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.

It begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.

A stellar panel comprising chief legal officers, many from leading companies, share their views on career development within the in-house legal department: “winning pitches” and their other priorities in selecting high-impact outside counsel (including diversity goals); the impact of the bottom-line focus of the modern law firm on the corporate legal department; the general counsel’s role in providing both legal and business advice to other corporate executives, with an emphasis on ethical challenges presented; as well as their role in promoting various diversity, mentoring and other initiatives within the organizations.

There will also be a presentation of the Hon. George Bundy Smith Pioneer Award to Hon. Samuel L. Green, former senior associate justice, New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and a presentation of the NYSBA Commercial and Federal Litigation Section’s Minority Law Student Summer Fellowship.
