On Tuesday, March 13, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. presents ERISA and 401(k) Update 2012: New England In-House Counsel Briefing at the MCLE Conference Center at 10 Winter Place in Boston.
The event starts at noon and ends at 2:00 p.m.
Employee benefit plan sponsors are confronting new legal and regulatory challenges in the midst of operating in a very difficult economic environment. In-house counsel are often expected to keep management and other stakeholders informed about the impact of legal changes on business operations and recognize when proposed changes to an employee benefit plan may present legal or financial risk to the organization.
The panelists provide an update on recent developments affecting employee benefit plans -- including Department of Labor guidance regarding fiduciary issues, fee disclosures, and investment advice; and the impact of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on health and other welfare benefit plans. The speakers will offer an overview of issues that may arise in connection with a change to or reduction of the benefits provided by a plan or partial or complete termination of a plan.
The faculty is Natascha S. George, Bingham McCutchen LLP; Alden J. Bianchi, Mintz, Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, PC; and Robert Clark, Marsh & McLennan Agency Company.
