The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists has scheduled a three-day conference on Monday, April 2 through Wednesday, April 4, at the Westin Diplomat Hotel, 3555 South Ocean Drive in Hollywood, Florida.

Day one begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 4:45 p.m. Day two starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:50 p.m. Day three opens at 9:00 a.m. and the conference adjourns at noon.

Electronic discovery and the management of electronically stored information (ESI) is one of the great challenges in commerce and law today. The proper management of ESI is now an essential skill for persons in legal, commercial, governmental and institutional circles. The conference will bring together leading professionals in the e-discovery field to discuss the latest issues surrounding ESI including the conflict of laws and rules in the United States and around the globe.

Topics under discussion are How to Meet the Dilemma of Securing Data in Countries That Will Not Let the Data Out; How to Control Costs When You lose and Must Pay an Opponent’s E-Discovery Fees; and Do-It-Yourself Discovery: Key Factors in Deciding When Doing E-Discovery In-House or Whether to Outsource.

Among the faculty are John M. Barkett, past chair, ABA’s National Institute on E-Discovery, Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP; John W. Bagby, professor, Information Sciences, Pennsylvania State University; Noah Lang, director and co-founder, Reputation.com; and Arnaldo Perez, general counsel and senior vice president, Carnival Corporation.
