Join the New York State Bar Association for their 2012 Annual Meeting, scheduled for Monday, January 23, through Saturday, January 28.
The meeting is located at the Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue of the Americas in New York City.
This year the NYSBA expects about 5,000 association members from around the state to share insights and experiences. The six-day event will be a great opportunity for learning and networking.
The daily agenda is varied and filled with section meetings and MCLE courses as well as plenary sessions and a presidential summit. The presidential summit topics are Perspectives in State Court Funding; Enhancing Representation in Immigration Matters: Examining the Parameters of Padilla v. Kentucky; and Elevating the Quality and Standards of Representation. There will be a reception for all members after the presentation.
Other highlights of the meeting include an NYSBA Career Development Conference on Monday, January 23, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Also, on Monday evening there is a Celebrating Diversity at the Bar networking reception. On Tuesday, a pro bono segment, Serving Those Who Have Served, runs from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will train practitioners to provide pro bono assistance to New York state veterans in need of legal assistance. A second pro bono program on Thursday, January 26, Advising Nonprofits about Corporate Governance, will help attorneys who would like to assist their favorite charities. On Thursday and Friday there is a Bridge the Gap for New Attorneys 2012.
