Save the dates -- Wednesday, February 1 through Friday, February 3, for the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professional’s Essentials of The Corporate Secretarial function. This years’ event is being held at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Day one begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:45 p.m. Day two begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5:45 p.m., and day three begins at 8:30 a.m. and the conference adjourns at 3:30 p.m.
The program will cover fundamentals of corporate governance and the role of the corporate secretarial function for those working for public companies, private companies or nonprofits and is designed for both new and experienced governance professionals. It will provide participants with a solid framework, practice tips and up-to-date information for a career as a corporate secretary. Plenary sessions and breakouts will cover the fundamentals of corporate governance, internal sources of governance authority, corporate entity management, the board of directors at its committees, the broader role of the corporate secretary, staffing the corporate governance office, minutes, project management for the corporate secretary, shareholder engagement, annual meetings, public company disclosure rules, nonprofit governance, and perspectives from experienced secretaries on commercial products available to support the secretaries and governance officers.
Rhonda L. Carroll, senior vice president, chief compliance officer and secretary of Encore Bancshares, Inc., will chair the seminar and offer advice on how to handle the responsibilities of the corporate secretary’s office.
