The Oregon State Bar has scheduled a program titled Expanding Civil Rights Advocacy: Emerging Trends in Your Practice. This live video replay of a popular program is being held at the offices of Gaydos Chumside & Balthrop PC at 440 East Broadway in Eugene, Oregon.
The replay begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m..
The faces of today’s developing civil rights issues include veterans, same-sex couples, those with mental illness, and individuals who are vulnerable to human trafficking. Presenters will delve into the Defense of Marriage Act, its legislative history, and the substance of the state and federal laws. Three judges will explore how to create better outcomes for mentally ill offenders. Veterans’ hot topics, such as Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the ADA, and civil and criminal law case issue-spotting will be reviewed. A legal ethics session on social networking will help attendees to understand advertising and solicitation rules in the context of social media and review how to keep social media conduct ethical.
