On Wednesday, January 18, the District of Columbia Bar Association has scheduled a seminar focusing on Ethical Issues Facing Corporate Counsel at the DC Bar Conference Center at 1101 K Street, NW in DC.

The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 8:15 p.m.

Corporate counsels often face a unique set of ethical issues, including conflicts of interest, confidentiality, corporate wrongdoing, and compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements. The seminar will explore the dangers of not properly identifying your exact client within the corporate entity; what to do if a client’s affiliate disagrees with another affiliate; who owns the attorney-client relationship after the company represented sells its stock or assets; issues arising by serving on a client’s board of directors; what the in-house counsel’s ethical duties are upon discovery of wrongdoing by the company; and how to limit liability as an in-house attorney.

The speaker is Thomas Spahn of McGuireWoods LLP.
