On Thursday, December 8, the Boston Bar Association offers the Basics of Intellectual Property Practice. The event will be at the offices of the Boston Bar, 16 Beacon Street, and will take place from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

This program will identify and explain the basic issues presented by patent, copyright, trademark and other areas of intellectual property law that commonly arise in other practice areas. Panelists will discuss the must-know legal issues that every business attorney or general practitioner should understand in advising clients on IP-related matters. Lawyers seeking to gain new practical and marketable skills should find this program useful. Topics will include information on how to apply for a patent, benefits of registering a client’s copyright or trademark, Internet rights, artistic or media creations and distribution, trade secrets and unfair competition.
