The Chicago Bar Association has scheduled Understanding Financial Statements for attorneys. The course is on Tuesday, November 8, at the Chicago Bar Association, 321 South Plymouth Court in Chicago. It starts at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m.

An entity’s financial statements convey a great deal of significant information regarding its financial position and the results of its operations. The ability to understand financial statements is a critical skill for corporate, trial and other lawyers. This session focuses on understanding financial statements and determining their veracity.

The program will be taught by two forensic accountants, Lee A. Gould and Michael D. Pakter, managing members, Gould & Pakter Associates, LLC who will use case studies that incorporate many of the investigative projects they have worked on over the years. The emphasis will be on financial “shenanigans” by examining ways Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are manipulated and how to spot these misstatements in financial statements.

To register for this program visit www.chicagobar.org or call (312) 554-2000.
