Gibbons Recognized As An "Equality Company Of The Year" By Garden State Equality

Garden State Equality (GSE), the largest advocacy organization in New Jersey, has named Gibbons P.C. one of its Equality Companies of the Year. The firm was honored at the organization's Legends 2011 Awards Dinner on June 25 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson.

Throughout the firm's longstanding working relationship with GSE in support of the advancement of civil rights for the LGBT community, Gibbons has been recognized by the organization on other occasions. The firm is privileged to be the namesake of Garden State Equality's Gibbons Prize for Law and Social Justice. In addition, Lawrence S. Lustberg, a firm director who leads the John J. Gibbons Fellowship in Public Interest & Constitutional Law, is a member of GSE's Equality Hall of Fame.

Ralph A. Dengler has joined Gibbons P.C. as counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property Department in the Newark office.

Prior to joining Gibbons, Mr. Dengler was an attorney at Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in New York, where his practice focused on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets, and unfair competition litigation matters in federal district courts. He has litigated across diverse technologies and arts involving business methods, chemical compounds, computer software, electronics, magazines, medical devices, online gaming, and pharmaceuticals. He also provided counsel on various transactional IP matters.

Mr. Dengler previously was a State Prosecutor in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office, where he handled misdemeanor and felony cases from arrest through trial.

Elizabeth Ann Fitzwater has joined Gibbons P.C. as counsel in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Department in the New York office.

Prior to joining Gibbons, Ms. Fitzwater was a senior litigation associate at Arkin Kaplan Rice, LLP, where her practice focused on the representation of corporations, private equity and hedge funds, and individuals in all aspects and phases of complex business-related litigation.

Mary Frances Palisano has joined Gibbons P.C. as counsel in the firm's Criminal Defense Department in the Newark office.

Ms. Palisano has more than a decade of litigation experience concentrated in the area of criminal defense. Prior to joining Gibbons, Ms. Palisano was an associate at the Law Offices of Alan L. Zegas, where her practice focused on a wide variety of state and federal criminal and quasi-criminal matters.

Ms. Palisano began her career with the Legal Aid Society in the Criminal Division (Bronx, New York). She is a member of the bars of New Jersey and New York and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
