Haynes and Boone represented Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. in its recent sale of equity interest in Krispy Kreme Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. ("KK Mexico"), the company's franchisee in Mexico, to KK Mexico's majority shareholder, a transaction worth approximately $7.8 million.
Dallas partner Alberto de la Pena led the sale transaction team that included Austin partner Rob Lauer, who handled the franchising matters and associate Gabriela Salazar Torres.

This year, the firm's Intellectual Property Practice broke into the national rankings, bringing to four the number of Haynes and Boone groups touted by Chambers USA researchers as leading U.S. practices. The other three, Corporate/M&A, Bankruptcy/Restructuring and Franchise and Distribution, maintained their nationally ranked status.
Also, the New York-based Real Estate practice made its debut in both the leasing and real estate finance categories. The group was acknowledged for its "market-recognized special expertise in several areas, including hotels, office properties, mixed-use properties, gaming, healthcare facilities, retail properties and residential communities." Partner Robert Grados was singled out for his work with national and regional financial institutions and institutional investors, while partner Stuart Mass was highlighted for his representation of large investment funds in leasing deals.
