Sills Cummis & Gross P.C. has announced that Nari Wang, a first-year student at Rutgers School of Law-Newark, has been selected as the firm's 2011 Charles J. Walsh Scholar. In 2006, Sills Cummis & Gross established the Scholarship Fund on behalf of the family, friends and colleagues of the late Judge Charles J. Walsh who, prior to his appointment to the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County, was a valued member of the firm for 17 years. Judge Walsh was also an adjunct professor at the law school. Ms. Wang was chosen for her academic promise, leadership qualities and commitment to using the law to help others. Ms. Wang decided to pursue law as a career "because it is a powerful tool to effect change."
Ms. Wang received a BA in religion, with a minor in Jewish studies, from Dartmouth College in 2006. While at Dartmouth, she studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel for a semester.
The Charles J. Walsh Scholar Fund will provide financial and other assistance to Ms. Wang in the form of scholarship support, summer internship stipends, mentorship during law school and career guidance.
