Lawyers Alliance for New York has announced that its 2004-2005 Law Firm Appeal raised a record $493,100 in donations from New York City law firms. The effort was chaired by Thomas M. Vitale and Diane Citron of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP.
More than 60 law firms participated in this year's appeal with gifts of up to $25,000. This year's campaign exceeds by more than $60,000 the previous record of $431,800 set in the 2003-2004 Law Firm Appeal. The funds will help Lawyers Alliance provide business law services and training to hundreds of nonprofit organizations.
"The Law Firm Appeal will lead to new pro bono opportunities for New York City's business attorneys as well as top-notch legal counsel for nonprofits serving low-income neighborhoods," said Sean Delany, executive director of Lawyers Alliance. "We are extremely grateful to Mr. Vitale and Ms. Citron for their leadership and contributions to the success of the appeal."
