LACBA Seminar Focus: Advising Nonprofits

The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Forming and Advising Nonprofit Corporations.

The program will take place on Wednesday, January 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LACBA offices, 261 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles. Registration begins at 5 p.m.

This program will provide an introduction to the legal issues involved with forming and representing nonprofit corporations. Attendees will gain an overview of: how to form a nonprofit corporation; how to obtain federal and state tax exemptions; duties and liabilities of a nonprofit board of directors, and general nonprofit corporate compliance issues. Attendees will also learn about opportunities for pro bono work with nonprofit corporations.

Speakers will be Louis E. Michelson, Law Offices of Louis E. Michelson, and Sarah M. Stegemoeller, public counsel, Community Development Project.
