The American Arbitration Association (AAA) this month is offering a seminar titled Enhancing the Strategic Value of the Legal Organization: Leading Practices That Get Results - What Works, Why and the Bottom-Line Benefits as part of its Dispute-WisesmBusiness Management series.

The program will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 7 and 8 at a New York City site still to be announced.

This conference is designed specifically for senior-level in-house and outside counsel.

Participants in this first-of-its-kind workshop will:

  • Be introduced to the systems that support a Dispute-Wise Business Management legal process and culture;
  • Review and discuss leading practices among companies that have thrived with this approach;
  • Gain an understanding of the steps needed to evaluate and improve their existing dispute management culture and structure.

Among the "best-practice" topics to be discussed are: aligning the goals of the legal team with strategic corporate objectives; the overwhelming value of a portfolio approach to case management; new paradigms in the selecting and leveraging of outside counsel; framing legal advice in terms of business economics and outcomes, and structuring a legal department to manage its operations in the broader context of business goals and industry issues.
