October Business Torts Institute Covers Hot Topics

The State Bar of Texas will offer the Business Torts Institute 2011 this fall, on October 13 and 14 in Houston.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Westin Houston Memorial City, 945 Gessner Road.

Hot Topics that will be discussed include ten emerging issues in business torts every trial lawyer should know; collecting and executing on an unpaid judgment in a business tort dispute; the case every business tort lawyer needs to know; new rules on shareholder oppression and minority shareholder rights; litigating the non-compete, non-disclosure and trade secret case; and Facebook, Twitter, and social media: managing, controlling and understanding an unstoppable trend.

The program includes a powerful one-hour ethics presentation on Friday moderated by Hon. Karen Gren Johnson, Jones Day, and with several former State Bar of Texas presidents weighing in. Other speakers include Coyt Randal Johnston, Johnston Tobey; Heather F. Kubiak, Kubiak & Carter; and Ernest Martin, Jr., Haynes and Boone LLP.
