Texas Bar Explores In-House Counsel Issues

On Thursday and Friday, July 22 and 23, the State Bar of Texas has scheduled an Advanced In-House Counsel course at the Westin Riverwalk, 420 West Market Street in San Antonio.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00p.m. on Thursday and from 8:20 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Attendees may arrive a day early for Managing Legal Fees Course: Staying up in a Down Economy, from 1:00to 5:00p.m., also at the Westin Riverwalk.

Among the topics being discussed are What In-House Counsel Needs To Know about Blogs & Networking Sites, Employment Law, Legal Opinions in Legal Transactions, and Environmental Law. Friday's luncheon presenter is David A. Furlow, Thompson & Knight, discussing Ten Legends & Myths of Texas Law. Practicing Law and Wellness and a general counsel roundtable titled Leadership in Trying Times will round out Thursday's program.

On Friday, Was Jeff Skilling Right?, Staying Out of SEC Trouble, and What In-House Counsel Needs to Know about the FCPA, Intellectual Property, andWhite Collar Issues are among the topics to be addressed.

A panel discussion about alternative fee arrangements, creative fee structuring in litigation, and lowering costs in IP litigation will be discussed in Wednesday's session.
