The Practising Law Institute is hosting its annual Directors Institute on Corporate Governance on Thursday, October 8, from 9:00 a.m. through 5:15 p.m. The program is to be held at the PLI New York Center at 810 Seventh Avenue in New York.
Due to the financial crisis and the new administration, corporate governance is now one of the hottest topics in corporate law. Under the new administration there have been and will be comprehensive regulatory changes and reinvigorated enforcement efforts that will affect the corporate landscape. The Director's Institute on Corporate Counsel is presented in cooperation with the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals and aims to bring corporate directors and their advisors information and strategies to function in the current and rapidly changing environment.
A distinguished faculty includes Chairman Ira M. Millstein, senior associate dean for corporate governance, Yale School of Management and senior partner with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, who will deliver the kick-off address: Re-Examining the Board of Directors. Among the other speakers are Howard B. Dicker, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; Margaret M. Foran, vice president, chief governance officer and secretary , Prudential; Kayla J. Gillian, deputy chief of staff, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and Joann S. Lublin, management news editor, The Wall Street Journal.
